I’m Erin Podolak, a science writer and editor with over 15 years of experience working to promote biomedical research.

I’m currently the Managing Editor for Scientific Communication at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I have a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication with a specialty concentration in science writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed my undergraduate degree in science writing at Lehigh University. Prior to joining St. Jude, I spent six years as a science writer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

I’m passionate about making scientific research accessible to all audiences – adding entertainment and education to communicating about new discoveries and topics important for human health.

I’m a member of the National Association of Science Writers, the University Research Magazine Association, and the Public Relations Society of America. In 2024 I was awarded the PR Star Award from the Public Relations Society of America Memphis Chapter.
